Lauren first joined the DOE in 2007 as a bilingual teacher for newcomer 6th and 7th grade students in the Bronx. After finding that her favorite parts of her day were her one-on-one moments with students, she returned to graduate school in 2010 to pursue a masters degree in counseling. Since then, Lauren has served as a counselor, dean of students, and Head of Counseling and Discipline in DOE and charter school settings across Brooklyn. Lauren is also a parent to two DOE students as well as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She is excited to be joining UASLE and bringing the experience she's gained from having served in all these roles- teacher, dean, counselor, clinician, and parent- into supporting students through a collaborative, team approach.
